The spaces between the lines
Say more than this meagre rhyme
All the things I need to say
Are held there in the spaces,
The blank, stark white
Between upper and lower cases.
It's nothing; it is everything
It's every word I'll ever utter
From the shining stars
To the stinking gutter.
Those spaces will tell you more
Their truth I just cannot ignore;
For every time, I should have told you.
I should have filled those empty spaces
Should have shown you how I feel
Because now the rest doesn't seem real,
Just those vacant holes of nothing.
I should have seen the warnings
And told you all the things I couldn't
say;
Not just let you slip away.
